Summary

The much-acclaimed BookTok sensation, Olivie Blake's The Atlas Six--now newly revised and edited with additional content。

• The tag #theatlassix has millions of views on TikTok

• A dark academic debut fantasy with an established cult following that reads like THE SECRET HISTORY meets THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY

• The first in an explosive trilogy

The Alexandrian Society, caretakers of lost knowledge from the greatest civilizations of antiquity, are the foremost secret society of magical academicians in the world。 Those who earn a place among the Alexandrians will secure a life of wealth, power, and prestige beyond their wildest dreams, and each decade, only the six most uniquely talented magicians are selected to be considered for initiation。

Enter the latest round of six: Libby Rhodes and Nico de Varona, unwilling halves of an unfathomable whole, who exert uncanny control over every element of physicality。 Reina Mori, a naturalist, who can intuit the language of life itself。 Parisa Kamali, a telepath who can traverse the depths of the subconscious, navigating worlds inside the human mind。 Callum Nova, an empath easily mistaken for a manipulative illusionist, who can influence the intimate workings of a person’s inner self。 Finally, there is Tristan Caine, who can see through illusions to a new structure of reality—an ability so rare that neither he nor his peers can fully grasp its implications。

When the candidates are recruited by the mysterious Atlas Blakely, they are told they will have one year to qualify for initiation, during which time they will be permitted preliminary access to the Society’s archives and judged based on their contributions to various subjects of impossibility: time and space, luck and thought, life and death。 Five, they are told, will be initiated。 One will be eliminated。 The six potential initiates will fight to survive the next year of their lives, and if they can prove themselves to be the best among their rivals, most of them will。

Most of them。

This book was SO interesting。 It was a little slow at times, and took me a little while to get fully invested, but the characters are really interesting and the whole world is unique to me。 (Albeit a bit complicated。) I feel like I could see it being a really intriguing tv show。 I saw some of the plot twists coming, and some I didn’t。 Im definitely intrigued and ready for Book 2!

One of my favourite books of the year without a doubt! The convergence of magic and STEM is one of the most interesting magic systems I’ve encountered and I cannot WAIT for TAP to come out in the fall。I listened to the last half of the audiobook to finish this off and it had me gasping at every turn。

Once I got down who was who, it was a pretty fun read。 I really liked the magic system and how the author rooted the aspects of it into reality and I enjoyed the dark academia aspect, but the more I got into the story the more I felt that it was dragging on。 I also noticed that the more I got into it, the more I found myself rereading paragraphs or even entire pages because I just couldn't really understand them the first time around。 That's actually the main reason it took me so long (10 months Once I got down who was who, it was a pretty fun read。 I really liked the magic system and how the author rooted the aspects of it into reality and I enjoyed the dark academia aspect, but the more I got into the story the more I felt that it was dragging on。 I also noticed that the more I got into it, the more I found myself rereading paragraphs or even entire pages because I just couldn't really understand them the first time around。 That's actually the main reason it took me so long (10 months to be exact) to really finish the book。 At first I thought it was because I hadn't read all that much adult fiction but since pausing The Atlas Six, I did and still when I came back to it, I was experiencing the same amount of confusion。The beginning was really interesting and the world building didn't feel too "info dumpy" and the ending was really good。 It definitely leaves you with a need for the next book。 I thought I had guessed it but oh was I wrong。 It was the middle chunk that was too "fluffy"。 I'm not sure how to describe it other than overly descriptive and it had a lot more dialogue than I would have liked。 That may be a personal preference, but it's only in comparison to the beginning and end of the book。 I am still debating on whether or not I will read The Atlas Paradox when it comes out, but I'm not too sure。 If Olivie Blake maybe alters her writing style a little, I think I will but I guess we'll just see。 。。。more

Highly enjoyable but could have used some edits

Highly creative story--like a hybrid of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, but for adults [not suggested for YA, given thematic content]--well woven with interesting characters。 Elements of mystery and psychological thriller, combined with supernatural forces in a sci-fi context。

I really liked this book and I loved each of the characters (even Callum)。 The way Blake writes is so elegant and beautiful。 I found the complexities of the magic and to be profoundly interesting。 My only complaint is that at times the writing style was confusing and became too bogged down with philosophical discussions, and while I understood the intent of the discussions, at times it seemed like they were so superfluous that they missed the whole point the author was trying to make。

I just finished this and my head is spinning。I loved it all。 It makes you think about the universe, about people, about purpose and space and time and science and ahhh SO MUCH MORE。 The characters all are very morally grey (or just full on nuclear bombs lol), extremely flawed, but also very interesting and unapologetically self-aware! The dark academia vibes were unmatched。The romance and shipping is also really cool, because I absolutely shipped everyone with everyone and I am 100% not mad abou I just finished this and my head is spinning。I loved it all。 It makes you think about the universe, about people, about purpose and space and time and science and ahhh SO MUCH MORE。 The characters all are very morally grey (or just full on nuclear bombs lol), extremely flawed, but also very interesting and unapologetically self-aware! Dark academia。 Mystery。 Betrayal。 Friendships。 Alliances。 Science based magic。 This is a character driven story。 Different POVs reliever the plot。 I love this style of writing。 The vocabulary to some might seem unnecessarily heightened, but I disagree。 This is set in the Alexandria Library where they are to study, it is academia, why wouldn’t the writing be on a higher level? Google is at our fingertips。 It’s easy to look up words。 The debut novel of this series highly exceeded my expectations。 Dark academia。 Mystery。 Betrayal。 Friendships。 Alliances。 Science based magic。 This is a character driven story。 Different POVs reliever the plot。 I love this style of writing。 The vocabulary to some might seem unnecessarily heightened, but I disagree。 This is set in the Alexandria Library where they are to study, it is academia, why wouldn’t the writing be on a higher level? Um…WAY overhyped。 I couldn’t really focus on the story because of the poor writing—even the most basic attribution, dialogue, and action were unbearably clunky。 What plot there was didn’t really pick up till a good 30% of the way into the book。 The dark academia/magic school concept was interesting but poorly delivered…this book had a frustratingly vague magic system, too many POV for the author to handle well, weak character motivation, inconsistent tone, and was unnecessarily spicy the whole t Um…WAY overhyped。 I couldn’t really focus on the story because of the poor writing—even the most basic attribution, dialogue, and action were unbearably clunky。 What plot there was didn’t really pick up till a good 30% of the way into the book。 The dark academia/magic school concept was interesting but poorly delivered…this book had a frustratingly vague magic system, too many POV for the author to handle well, weak character motivation, inconsistent tone, and was unnecessarily spicy the whole time。 All due respect, but this book totally reads like an unedited self pub book that was only traditionally published bc it went viral on TikTok 😬 。。。more

Unfortunately did not live up to the hype - meandering plot, unlikeable characters, and even though I honestly found the pretentious writing style charming, I quickly found myself skimming over pages of filler fluff and wandering conversations。

I actually just found this book really boring。 It was just so long and hard to get through to be honest。 Not a very strong plot either。 Didn’t understand the ending at all。 First book I’ve ever read where I got to the end and felt like I’d wasted so many hours it was just so bad。 Don’t waste your time

The characters are so absolutely lovable I couldn’t put it down。 I found some of the magical talk to go over my head and could feel a little lost at times。 But overall characters are so interesting you can’t help but keep reading。
